ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Leslie Zeidel, M.S., CCC-SLP
With dual master’s degrees in speech language pathology and marketing communication from Columbia University, coupled with an ambitious idea, Leslie created her first company, InSpeech, in 1978. Her model for the provision of speech therapy services revolutionized the field. Starting with one therapist, she was the first to build a multi-state speech therapy company with more than 350 employees in 14 states. This unprecedented growth was recognized in 1983 and for three consecutive years by Inc. magazine. InSpeech ranked #84, #85, and #89, respectively on Inc. magazine’s list of the “Top 500 Fastest Growing Companies” nationwide. Realizing significant company growth and profitability, InSpeech received mezzanine financing and taken public on the New York Stock Exchange the same year. InSpeech, Inc., Inc. was then sold to NovaCare. Within two years, the company was valued at $250 million.
In 2003, Ms. Zeidel began to build a “new” InSpeech, which focused on serving the needs of children in Arizona. Within five years, InSpeech had nearly 60 employees and operated 40 centers throughout the state. Having had a seven-year track record of growth, InSpeech was sold in 2009.
